Creating a Business Partner Category

This topic describes the procedure to create a business partner category to group new or existing business partners for a value chain model.

A value chain model (VCM) is made up of components that include:

• Business Partners and
• Business Partner Categories

A business partner category is a group of business partners (business partner companies) with whom the company collaborates using the same business processes. Defining or creating a business process category makes it easier to group your business partners involved in similar functions as a single or common entity for better management of business processes.

1. Select a starting point and select (Business Partner Category) to create a business partner category. The Untitled Business Partner Category - Business Partner Category window appears.
2. Click the Business Partner tab. The Select Business Partner window appears displaying a list of existing business partners.
3. From the Select Business Partner window, select required business partner and click OK. The selected business partner is associated to the current business partner category.
4. Click the Annotation tab and type additional notes or comments on the business partner category, if any.
5. Click on the toolbar. The new business partner category is added to the project content tree in the Workspace Documents.
